LOL agreed with Zoni, it's hard for me to find and replace the names when I use them so much. >.< I tend to make the change with the find/replace function, then read through and fix any mistakes.

tigress, are you good at spotting your own typos and such? I'm terrible at it. I have serious issues with story-blindness.

Sometimes??? I have stories that I have re-read three times to try and catch everything, and they are still riddled with those pieces of grrrr. >.< But I have found a method that seems almost fool-proof to me... I post the story up as a hidden chapter, wait a week, and then re-read it as the reader would see it. The new view actually keeps me from being able to skim-read my own things and so I tend to catch more mistakes, and then I go and fix them in the edit. It's worked pretty well for me on my more recent stories... when I am not too lazy to do it. >.< I too often go 'eh fuck it' and post the stories after only a couple of quick read-throughs. >.<

Oh, you're way more patient than I am. By the time I finish my second draft, I'm so ready to be done with it it's not even funny. I ship it off to beta readers and the second I get that first beta copy, I edit and post. I hate keeping readers waiting.

I reread my story every time I get ready to add a chapter so it's never really bugged me no matter how many times the name shows up. If be more pissed playing spot the typo when it fucks up.

Zoni, oh no, I write in advance and update once a week, every Friday. LOL. So if I have a short story, I will write the whole thing then post one chapter at a time, one a week. And if it is a long story, I write about ten to fifteen chapters before posting the first one. So I can afford to re-read at my own (lazy) pace. As for Betas... I am too distrustful to allow my stories in the hands of someone else, especially after having my stories stolen and posted as someone else's work more than ten times. >.< GRRRR kaseyslove, that makes perfect sense to me. I re-read mine when I have gone a few weeks without writing new chapters, and occasionally I will catch more typos I missed. >.< I HATE typos.

Honey, if someone wants to steal your story... it's on the internet. Get a beta. They help. I've had stories stolen repeatedly, but never once by a beta.

LOL probably totally true. >.< I'm so... I don't like people. LOL But hmmm. Maybe? I've seen friends using their betas and they just don't seem to do much good!!! >.<

That's because you've got to get a good beta. Give me a one shot and I'll show you what a beta should -really- be doing.

Hmmmmm. Gosh you're tempting me. With things I never considered. IN TERMS OF WRITING, just to clear that up since I've been saying crazy things haha. =D

LMAo pretty much name it, done it. But as for writing... I am so new to it, or at least consider myself new, since creative writing is so wildly different than journalism, that I find myself learning something new every day. And totally nervous to step out of my comfort zone (aka into comedy or horror, for instance).

Name it, huh? Oh so tempting. I can think of at least one thing I know you haven't done.
The key to that is to drop the labels. Forget the secular definitions of what you're writing. They really don't matter. You're not writing comedy, or horror, or smut. You're just writing, and that counts for an awful lot.
