I actually really love the twist I took for djinn in the story, to be honest. Never seen anyone else take that angle at all.
AJ is my evil regional overlord. He keeps Kiseop as a slave, and shows him off saying that he's rendered Kiseop, a djinn (who are generally pretty much all-powerful), harmless because he's eliminated the djinn's source of power -- hope, in any form.
