Or something like that.
I'm debating writing a mid-length (8 or 9 chapter, 65,000 or so words) AU for UKISS revolving around the idea of Kiseop being an independent, small-time fashion designer who hires some part-time help in the form of AJ. I could use some help trouble-shooting my plot, since I generally suck at AUs and suck even more at making things interesting and romantic-ish.
So, you game? I'll show you part of my short-form, unfinished outline thus far and tell you what happens after.
Chapter One Kiseop is moving into the studio left by his grandmother.
- Kiseop is moving into his grandmother's old studio. The grandmother recently passed away, but the place doesn't really feel like her house anymore. - Kiseop is moving boxes in the large studio room, hears a knock at the door. - He sets the boxes aside and goes to answer the door. - At the door is AJ, who says they talked earlier on the phone. - Kiseop smiles and welcomes him, they discuss teh details of the ad that was run in the paper - Clarify that it is a small business, Kiseop's just hiring some part time, temporary help, the nature of the business and what's going on. - AJ asks for some details, offers to go ahead and help free of charge for that day. - Kiseop is pleasantly surprised, accepts the help.
- As they unpack, Kiseop gets a text from the owner of the fashion boutique selling his stuff. - AJ and Kiseop close up the shop, and Kiseop thanks AJ for the help. AJ compliments him, and asks when he should come by again. Kiseop gives him a day and time (the next day or day after) - Kiseop takes some outfits with him to the boutique - Intro the boutique owner, Kevin, who has a check for Kiseop and asks how he's doing - Mention, though carefully, that Kiseop has just moved out of his ex's apartment - Kevin takes the new outfit offerings, and suggests again that Kiseop look in to joining a fashion show, throwing one of his own or maybe getting a website started. Gives Kiseop a flier. - Kiseop mentions that he just hired some help, and maybe Kevin's right. This is time to get something started.
--- Chapter Two Kiseop's ex-boyfriend drops some of his stuff off. AJ tries to cheer him up.
- A few mornings later, Kiseop is surprised when he finds AJ at the door carrying coffee. - They get started on setting up the studio. - AJ asks if Kiseop lives there, and Kiseop explains about the attached apartment. - They talk about Kiseop's work, and things start to make sense. - Part-way through the morning, there's another knock at the door. Kiseop isn't expecting deliveries. - Kiseop answers the door to find Eli. Things are awkward. - Eli gives Kiseop some of his stuff, says Kiseop forgot it. Says the place won't be the same without Kiseop's grandmother. - Kiseop takes his stuff, wishes Eli a good day.
- AJ notices the change in Kiseop's demeanor, asks about it. Kiseop explains that Eli is his ex, and was just dropping some stuff off. - Kiseop, obviously tired, tells AJ that they'll stop for the day. - AJ suggests they go out to lunch, keying into Kiseop's mood. Kiseop considers declining, but gives in when AJ points out that his stomach is growling. - At lunch, Kiseop talks about the fashion show that Kevin suggested, but suspects AJ is bored. AJ surprises him by asking if he has a website, and offering to help him out, though Kiseop suspects that AJ's just being nice. - After lunch, AJ walks Kiseop back to the apartment and tells him to take it easy.
--- Chapter Three Kiseop receives bad news about Kevin's boutique, formulates a new plan.
- Kevin and Kiseop meet in the boutique. Kevin's almost crying, but Kiseop just feels lost. - Kevin apologizes. He's so sorry, he had no idea it would happen this soon. - Kiseop tells him that he understands, he's sorry that he's having trouble.
- Kiseop returns to the studio, feeling numb. Jaeseop is there, but they're almost done unpacking. AJ's fiddling around with the beginnings of a website. It's been more han a month, and AJ's a usual sight. - AJ welcomes Kiseop back, offering a friendly smile. - Kiseop walks in, quietly, and tells AJ that the boutique is closing. - AJ inquires as to how Kiseop's going to sell his work. Kiseop responds that he won't be able to, so he'll probably have to close down. He says he won't be able to keep AJ on. - AJ says there's got to be something they can do. Kiseop thinks he's referring to the boutique, but AJ points to the website and the fashion show. - Kiseop is doubtful, but reaffirms the fact that he doesn't want to close down. - AJ offers to help, free of charge. He tells Kiseop that, if Kiseop feels guilty then he can buy them coffee in the mornings. - Kiseop hesitatingly agrees, but asks why. AJ says because they're friends. He asks where they need to start.
--- Chapter Four AJ and Kiseop work to get things ready for submission to the fashion show, fill out paperwork. Something close to a date night.
- AJ returns from sending off the forms for the fashion show. - When he returns, Kiseop calls him over and shows AJ what he's doing, tells AJ to take his shirt off, drapes the shirt over him for a better idea of sizing. - Asks AJ to model, which AJ laughs off and then agrees to. - After several photos, AJ asks why Kiseop never models. Kiseop says he used to. AJ says he'd like to see. - Kiseop shows him photos, and AJ says he should model some of his own work. - AJ gets close, maybe brushes hair off the back of Kiseop's neck, tells him he's beautiful. - Kiseop laughs it off, but enjoys the warmth.
- The time comes for AJ to leave, but Kiseop suggests he stay. He says he'll buy them take-out, and AJ's never one to turn down free food. - AJ suggests they watch a movie, but Kiseop doesn't have a television. They turn on a radio, play a couple of board games, things get cozy. - Kiseop realizes that he has feelings for AJ, but when AJ reaches out to Kiseop, Kiseop pulls back. There's a very warm good night that leaves Kiseop wishing there were more to it than friendship. Maybe kisses AJ on the cheek.
--- Chapter Five Kiseop is rejected from the fashion show, has a fight with AJ.
- Kiseop runs a shirt through a sewing machine, finishing the form before he goes through to detail by hand. - AJ shows up at his usual time, toting coffee and carrying the mail. - Kiseop retrieves the mail, and they share a warm greeting. - AJ asks if Kiseop has some errands he needs run, and Kiseop agrees that he does. AJ inspects the shirt, but Kiseop is too distracted by the mail. - The mail contains a rejection for the fashion show, either due to deadline or number of designers or something else. - Kiseop panics. - AJ tries to calm Kiseop down, but they wind up fighting. - Kiseop walks out.
I'm eventually going to have AJ get Kiseop involved with the fashion show again (through handy plot device #507, the fashion show is actually being run through the school where AJ is a part-time college student and he just happens to know the person organizing it, because that's not totally too convenient at all. Ahem.), intended to do something with the ex-boyfriend and have no clue what. I did have a plan at one point, but it seems to have flapped right out the window.
What kinds of things would you like to see in a story like this?

Hmmm. Yes, that is an AU I would be interested in reading. As for the ex-boyfriend thing, I would think it feasible to continue from your outline in having....
Eli stop by while Kiseop is still angry, they get into an argument which turns into sex. Kiseop angry at himself, AJ comes back to apologize and finds Eli leaving. AJ says he knows the person who is running the show but says he isn't sure Kiseop wants his help now that Eli is back. Kiseop says Eli isn't back, it was just a mistake. AJ isn't sure how to take that.
.... and more....

Hahah! I have to admit, Qimbra, your idea sounds like fun... but I think Tigress knows more what I like to write. That does make sense. I was going to have Eli seeing someone else, but I guess that really wouldn't stop something like that. And really, I dislike writing PG-13.

OKAY! So, clearly since I'm at work and should be working, instead I took that idea and finished the rest of my outline. Here you guys go. Let me know what you think: --- Chapter Five Kiseop is rejected from the fashion show, has a fight with AJ.
- Kiseop runs into Eli, who calms him down. - After maybe treating Kiseop to food (or offering to, at least), they wind up going back to Kiseop's studio. It's raining. - Kiseop is hesitant to go back to the studio, not wanting to see AJ, but the studio is empty. - Electricity is out. - Kiseop asks Eli not to go. - Comfort turns to make-out session.
Chapter Six --- Kiseop and Eli make a mistake, Kiseop re-evaluates what he wants. Gets a rude awakening in the form of a note from AJ.
- Eli and Kiseop wind up having sex. Chapter opens on them in bed (or on couch, whichever). - Super stormy weather outside because I like that.
- Afterwards, Eli falls asleep, but Kiseop does not. - Kiseop gets up, wraps a sheet or something around himself, wanders back out to the studio. - Debates situation with Eli, who he suspects is seeing someone else, but who he also wants to get back with. - Finds a note from AJ, apologizing for the previous day's fight. Possibly affectionate. - Kiseop feels regretful for what he did with Eli, refuses to admit he might feel something for AJ even though he's aware of it. - Doesn't go back to bed.
- AJ comes to work the next morning with coffee and what is clearly an apology pastry in hand. - Runs into Eli on his way in. ---
Chapter Seven Tension between AJ and Kiseop leads to a minor, reluctant argument. A long day leads to the revelation that AJ has gotten Kiseop an in with the fashion show.
- AJ doesn't comment immediately on Eli. Kiseop doesn't bring him up or discuss anything as they go about a routine day of work. - Stiff conversation and even stiffer attempts at being friendly. - AJ finishes his work day and asks if Kiseop even wants him to come back. - Kiseop asks why he wouldn't, and AJ makes a sideways comment about Eli. Kiseop replies that AJ is an employee, making it clear that Eli is not and subtly delivering a kick to the face. AJ states that he's aware of that, and it's clear that there's more bite to that than there should be. - Before he leaves, clearly irritated, AJ hands a sheet of paper over to Kiseop, with a date and a time, and tells Kiseop that he got him in contact with the person running the fashion show. AJ walks out.
- Kiseop goes to the appointment and meets Soohyun. - Soohyun outlines that he's doing a favor for AJ, who has presumably paid quite well for that, a fact that Kiseop finds both intriguing, baffling and embarrassing all at once. - Soohyun outlines that he can get him in, but Kiseop will have to pay the fee, provide his own models (the university was using a club to supply models for other designers, presumably students, and advertise the show on his website. Also points out that there aren't really any buyers that attend the show, but he might get seen by local places or higher name designers. - Kiseop agrees, and walks away knowing that AJ really went out of his way to help him out. - Eli calls Kiseop. Kiseop lets it go to voice mail. ---
Chapter Eight Kiseop decides to try and repay AJ's favor, begins to get in gear for fashion show.
- Sweets as apologies theme continues. Kiseop gets a cake that AJ mentioned before, and does the unthinkable -- takes it to AJ. - AJ is surprised, asks Kiseop in, accepts the apology. - AJ suggests, as subtly as fan fiction AJ is capable of being, that he wants to be more than just Kiseop's part-time employee, maybe while cupping Kiseop's cheek or something similar - Kiseop responds both favorably and yet ambiguously, asks if he'll see AJ the next day. AJ agrees.
- AJ shows up the next day, clearly expecting it to be just Kiseop and him. Kiseop greets him happily... with at least two other helpers (Kevin, possibly Jun or Hoon) getting things ready. - Kiseop thanks AJ for the help with the fashion show (maybe gives him a kiss on the cheek, though perhaps the cake is good enough reward?) - They buckle down and do work. - When work ends, Kiseop dares to ask AJ if he wants to do something that evening. AJ, obviously, accepts. --- Chapter Nine Date night for AJ and Kiseop, Interruption by Eli asking Kiseop if they can talk, AJ asks for more than one date.
- AJ and Kiseop discuss going out and doing something. Wind up staying in. - Kiseop offers to fix food. Sucks at fixing food. The situation is not improved when AJ tries to help. - Wind up eating bad food, setting up Kiseop's crappy TV that has finally been unearthed, very relaxed evening that leads to a warm make-out session.
- Interrupted by a late night knock on the door. - AJ answers the door for Kiseop, who is cleaning up. Discovers that it's Eli. - AJ backs off while Kiseop talks to Eli, who just tells Kiseop that they need to talk. Asks if they can. Kiseop agrees to a place/time, asks why Eli didn't just call, Eli says it's not the sort of thing to talk about over the phone.
- Eli leaves, and Kiseop is unsettled. - AJ decides to tackle the situation head-on, makes his intentions clear, asks Kiseop for a relationship, kisses him. Evening ends.
--- Chapter Ten Kiseop talks to Eli, gets things ready for fashion show, considers AJ's request.
- Kiseop waits at a coffee shop, chatting with Kevin on the phone for a few minutes while he waits for Eli. They talk about fashion show stuff. Yay. - Kiseop hangs up, Eli greets him. Doesn't suggest they go anywhere. - Eli apologizes, and says that he doesn't regret their night together but it shouldn't have happened. Eli outlines that he's seeing somebody, they know what happened, but it can't happen again and he's sorry. - Kiseop feels oddly relieved, wishes Eli the best of luck, sees him off with a smile.
- Kiseop meets up with Kevin (and helper) later, and they finalize plans, move things around, etc. Kevin adds that he may have found another place to sell Kiseop's clothes. - AJ shows up to help, but they don't discuss their date night and AJ doesn't push. Warm, happy atmosphere as they get things ready to go. - Kiseop checks things over, notices that he's getting more traffic to his site. Begins to feel optimistic. - Kiseop closes up shop with a good feeling.
--- Chapter Eleven Fashion show goes over swimmingly well, party at Kiseop's studio, Kiseop says yes to AJ.
- Kiseop helps models get ready for the fashion show, watches them walk, listens for responses and generally has a good reaction. - Fashion show-stuff-things-happen-here, yes.
- Already good evening retreats to Kiseop's studio afterwards with the helpers/models, AJ and Kiseop throwing their own small party, which is punctuated by a note from the other shop Kevin mentioned contacting Kiseop to set up a time to talk about a contract to carry his stuff. - Partay - In the middle of the party, somebody busts out crackers or confetti guns - Kiseop and AJ wind up kissing, Kiseop turns the tables and asks AJ for a relationship -- possibly after firing him. - Kiseop affirms that things couldn't have gone better. Happily ever after, etc. --- Chapter 12 Epilogue, three years later.
- AJ and Kiseop both move boxes into Kiseop's studio, which now takes up the entire apartment. Kiseop remarks that they need more space, but AJ points out that they have plenty now that the entire apartment is being used for Seamless. - Mentions of AJ and Kiseop getting their own place elsewhere. - They scramble to move things in, Kiseop signs for a package, double checks with AJ on the date for his graduation ceremony when handling a phone call, and double checks a new schedule to make sure his new seamstress isn't starting the same day. - AJ assures Kiseop that it'll be fine, but they're probably going to have to skip lunch afterwards. Kiseop asks why, and AJ reminds him that they have a meeting with the lawyer over the new contract with the shop on (major street somewhere important sounding). - Kiseop thought they already had that meeting, but the previous one was for a different contract. Kiseop says he wishes they hadn't been so successful, then notices the time and tells AJ that they need to hurry up and go or they'll be late for random appointment 528. - AJ agrees, but points out that Kiseop has missed a box. A little one. He suggests that Kiseop open it. - Kiseop says it's probably just bobbins or something, declines. - AJ presses. - Go ahead and guess what's in the box. - END! I never do proposals because I find them hideously cheesy, but I figure that I might as well since this kind of reeks of cheese as is. Thoughts? Would you read this?
Edited because Notepad fucked up my formatting.

I'd never outline lol. I love how it is, really and it really fleshes out what you want and gives you a step by step guideline to your fic. But once I write this, I'll never write the fic. Far as I'm concerned it's done. I may even entertain the thought of posting my chapters just like this xD
I STILL LIKE UR STORY AUTHOR NIM!!! /shot
